Sam Grenier (she, her, hers) is a stay at home mom and independent contractor with the Healthy Northern Kennebec food council. She lives in Albion, Maine with her husband, two young daughters, and their dog. She fills her time playing with and caring for her family, baking sourdough, planning future homesteading dreams, enjoying the outdoors with loved ones, and building community partnerships. She is excited to be part of the Maine School Garden Network board networking and collaborating with down to earth people who are passionate about supporting school gardens in Maine.
More information about Sam: She was raised in upstate New York close to the Adirondack Mountains and grew up cooking and baking with her family. Her foundational love of cooking, baking, nature, and gathering around food with loved ones led her to explore various sectors of the food system in her professional career. After moving to Maine in 2012, she studied health, wellness, nutrition, and psychology at the University of New England in Biddeford and founded the school’s chapter of the Food Recovery Network. After graduating with her bachelor’s degree in Health, Wellness, and Occupational Studies, she spent two years serving with FoodCorps in Eastport and Indian Township (where she also met her now husband, Jared), a summer season farming as a MOFGA apprentice at Villageside Farm in Freedom, two years baking at Rising Tide Co-op in Damariscotta, and nearly six years coordinating the Maine SNAP-Ed program at MaineGeneral Medical Center based in Waterville.
