Marcia Martin was born and raised in Maine, with some of her earliest memories rooted in growing, harvesting, and preserving food from the land. These hands-on experiences shaped her lifelong appreciation for agriculture, learning, and community. She now works as a Program Assistant for Maine Agriculture in the Classroom, where she supports statewide agricultural literacy and helps bring authentic, place-based learning opportunities to Maine teachers and students. A former high school teacher with 16 years of classroom experience, she holds a BFA from the University of Southern Maine. Her work blends a passion for Maine’s agricultural heritage with a commitment to creating meaningful, engaging learning experiences for classrooms across the state. Marcia is also an outdoors enthusiast who loves camping, canoeing, hiking, and exploring. She is thrilled to serve on the Maine School Garden Network’s board, where she can further support teachers and administrators in exploring the many wonderful ways school gardens strengthen student learning.
