“Good nutrition is the foundation of a healthy life—and nothing nourishes the body or spirit quite like farm-fresh vegetables!”
My name is Brittany Russell, RN, and I serve as the Director of Health, Wellness, and Safety for RSU 22 in Hampden. I grew up in rural Maine, spending countless hours outdoors on my family’s farm, where my love for the natural world—and all things that grow—first began.
I graduated from the University of Maine in 2005 with a degree in nursing, and since 2014 I’ve had the joy of working in RSU 22, where I lead our district’s school garden and orchard initiatives. Watching students learn, explore, and discover confidence through hands-on experiences in the soil is one of the best parts of my work—there is truly nothing better than a child learning from the dirt!
I live in Hampden with my two children, my husband, and the newest addition to the family—a very well-loved tractor.
I am honored to serve on the Maine School Garden Network Board and to support school gardens across our state.
