Beth Jarvis is passionate about connecting people with nature and educating the future stewards of our Earth. Maine’s forests, seashores, and lakes are embedded in her core childhood memories as she was born and raised here in Maine. She now lives in Woolwich with her husband, daughter, 3 cats, and a Cavalier King Charles spaniel.
Beth has 20 years of experience in public education shared between Edgecomb Eddy School and West Bath School. Whether Beth was teaching second grade, sixth grade, Response to Intervention, or Gifted and Talented, the one constant was the continual incorporation of the natural sciences into her curricula. Throughout this journey, school gardening became a passion and a vehicle for connecting her students to nature and their local food system and modeling the natural cycles and relationships in our environment.
Currently, Beth is a Youth and Family Programs Educator at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens where she utilizes her classroom experience to lead the summer camp programing and to facilitate and support natural history and gardening education at the local schools. Beth is at her happiest when she is digging in the dirt and sharing her love of nature with others.
