Founded in 1975, the Seed Savers Exchange stewards America’s culturally diverse and endangered garden and food crop legacy for present and future generations by educating and connecting people through collecting, regenerating, and sharing heirloom seeds, plants and stories.
Seed Savers Exchange offers a mix of virtual and in-person events throughout the year such as National Seed Swap Day in January, Start With A Seed, Apple Grafting, Heirloom Plant Day, Tomato Tasting, Orchard Tour and Tasting, Annual Virtual Conference and Virtual Seed School. You can also request a virtual presentation! They also offer Gardening and Seed Saving Guides such as Garden Planning, Seed Starting, Plant Care, Soil Health, Pollinators and Seed Saving. They even have a guide to Gardening & Seed Saving Terms!
Seed Savers donate seeds to schools who freely give the seeds and resulting produce away as well as seed donations to gardens in need through Herman’s Garden Seed Donation program. The Exchange program is an online community of gardeners and seed stewards sharing and swapping homegrown seeds. Check out some of their recipes in the Recipe of the Month article in this newsletter too!
