Maine Outdoor School for All

Maine Outdoor School for All is a network of outdoor environmental learning centers working together with Maine schools and other partners to facilitate immersive learning opportunities that empower students to create healthy, vibrant Maine communities by building an interdisciplinary-focused learning environment that strengthens their connection to Maine’s natural heritage.

Their shared education model includes:

Using systems thinking, ecology, and sustainability integrated into their program models
Provide three-day or longer immersive environmental learning programs
Work with schools as long-term partners to provide holistic and on-going connections between the various learning environments students experience.
Foster teacher-driven professional development through ongoing collaboration
Have a robust social-emotional curriculum
Have a foundation in strong science and community-based/civics curriculum

Maine Outdoor School for All allows the partner organizations to share best practices and administrative resources, reach a much greater number of students, and work together to teach a rising generation how to be responsible stewards of their environment, their own health, their communities, and their state. To date, the Maine Outdoor School for All Project has allocated $3 million to support over 15,000 students from Maine schools.

The following organizations are part of a developing network of outdoor educational providers that serve the students, teachers, schools, and communities across Maine through various Maine Outdoor School for All programming. These organizations work in deeply collaborative and equitably-based ways in order to meet the mission and vision that every student across Maine has the opportunity to attend a high-quality, immersive, place-based, overnight environmental educational experience.
