Laurie Bowen grew up on a dairy farm in Central Maine. After completing Master Gardener Volunteer training in 2001, she decided to pursue a career in landscaping and gardening. She received a degree in Applied Science and joined the UMaine Cooperative Extension staff in 2017.
As a member of the Food Systems team providing community education and outreach, Laurie enjoys sharing her knowledge about home based food preservation and food safety, a nod to her fond memories of canning and preserving food when she was growing up on the farm.
