Seed Money Challenge Grants
Deadline: November 14, 2026
Award Amount: $100+
The SeedMoney Challenge works differently from most grant programs: approved projects run a crowdfunding campaign from 15 November to 15 December, and 432 grants of $100 to $1,000 are awarded through it, on top of everything a project raises.
Maine projects are also eligible for 30 grants of $300 awarded by location rather than by campaign performance, through the same application, and in most years there are more of these available than there are Maine applicants. There are no fees, so projects keep 100% of every donation, and every approved project receives a free one-year subscription to SeedMoney’s online garden planner, worth $50.
Berwick Community Garden raised $3,910 from 40 donors in last year’s Challenge and received $800 in SeedMoney grants on top of it, made up of a Challenge grant, a Strong Start grant and the Maine grant. Applying takes about twenty minutes and is open to community, school, donation and demonstration gardens. Details at seedmoney.org/apply.
