When was your garden project started?
4 or 5 years ago when we had an AmeriCorps volunteer for 2 years at our school

What type of facility hosts your garden?
School? small raised garden beds?

What programs does your garden project include?
multiple grade levels are ALL invited, but mostly 7th & 8th graders through Science Class; as well as our Kitchen/Cafeteria whenever they can… we are hoping to have an indoor, year round herb garden for our kitchen!

Does your garden have a paid coordinator?
Yes

Who volunteers in your garden?
students, teachers, summer school program, afterschool program

How is your garden project funded?
Mostly through Amazon Wishlists, GoFundMe, some from School Nutrition budget, out of pocket, fundraising

What community connections do you have?
summer school, after school care & I’ll take anyone who wants to volunteer from the community

Who tends the garden when school’s out?
administration, janitorial staff, garden coordinator, summer school staff & possible…. girl scouts & local 4H chapter

What are your future goals?
To have a successful, low maintenance garden where kids can eat & learn about fresh produce. To grow a variety of flowering plants to use in Science Class, as well as helping our bee population.

What is your most significant need?
Materials to plant (seeds haven’t been as successful as purchasing hardy seedlings, potting soil, room to grow inside; total Indoor Herb Garden set up so that we can start growing herbs to use in a kitchen that serves approx. 250+ people.
